The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts annual Common Recruitment Processes (CRP) to hire personnel for public sector banks and Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) across India. The core exams include the Probationary Officer (PO/MT), Clerk (officially CRP-CSA), Specialist Officer (SO), and RRB exams.
Core IBPS Exams
- IBPS PO: For managerial/probationary officer roles. Requires a preliminary exam, main exam, and interview.
- IBPS Clerk (CRP-CSA): For clerical-level Customer Service Associate positions. Requires a preliminary and main exam (no interview).
- IBPS SO: For specialist roles like IT Officers, Law Officers, and Agricultural Field Officers. Requires prelims, mains, and an interview.
- IBPS RRB: For Regional Rural Banks (Officer Scale I, II, III, and Office Assistant).
Eligibility Criteria
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
- Age Limit: Generally between 20 to 28 years for Clerks, and 20 to 30 years for POs (with standard age relaxations for reserved categories). [
Exam Pattern
- Prelims: Typically tests English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability. It is objective and qualifying in nature.
- Mains: Tests Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, General/Economy/Banking Awareness, English Language, and Data Analysis/Quantitative Aptitude.
- Negative Marking: \(0.25\) marks are deducted for every incorrect objective answer.
2026 Tentative Schedule Highlights
- IBPS PO: Prelims are scheduled for August 22 and 23, 2026, with Mains on October 4, 2026.
- IBPS Clerk: Prelims are slated for December 6, 12, and 13, 2026, with Mains on December 27, 2026.
