📝 Major Changes Introduced in 2026

IBPS has brought significant updates to this year’s recruitment cycle: [5]

  1. Revised Mains Structure: Total objective questions have scaled up from 145 to 170 questions (totaling 200 marks), while the testing time has dropped to 160 minutes. [5, 9]
  2. Sectional Shift: General/Banking Awareness and Data Interpretation now carry heavier weightage. English Language has more questions but its total marks have been slashed to 20. [3, 5, 10]
  3. New Descriptive Test: The English writing section now evaluates candidates on one Essay and one Comprehension question, permanently removing Letter Writing. [11, 12]
  4. Mandatory Personality Test: A mandatory (but non-qualifying) personality profile assessment has been introduced between the Mains exam and the final Interview. [1, 13]
  5. Stricter Verification: Stricter PwBD clauses have been rolled out, mandating Unique Disability ID (UDID) submissions and Aadhaar authentication. [2, 5]

🎓 Eligibility Criteria (As of 1st July 2026)

  • Educational Qualification: A Bachelor’s Degree in any subject or discipline from a university recognized by the Government of India. Your final semester results must be officially declared on or before 21st July 2026. [1, 6, 14]
